The Galleries Association of Korea
(Chairman Sunghoon Lee) and the Gwangju Biennale Foundation (President Youn
Bummo) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 6, 2026 (Friday),
formally launching a collaborative partnership to expand the presence of Korean
art both domestically and internationally and to strengthen global exchange.
Under this agreement, the two organizations plan to
pursue a range of joint initiatives, including: ▲ planning and organizing
special exhibitions leveraging the strengths and resources of both institutions
▲ developing culture and arts-related talk programs ▲ inviting international
art professionals and press representatives ▲ and cooperating on domestic and
international promotion and marketing of collaborative projects.

Association of Korea, stated, “As Korea’s leading international art event, the
Gwangju Biennale plays a pivotal role in the global art scene. This agreement
will serve as an opportunity to organically connect Korea’s creative and exhibition
ecosystem, the art market, and international networks. We look forward to
generating tangible outcomes by combining the strengths of both institutions.”
In particular, the Galleries Association of
Korea plans to co-organize and operate a variety of collaborative programs with
the Gwangju Biennale at Kiaf SEOUL, further expanding points of engagement with
Korean contemporary art for global art professionals and audiences. Building on
this agreement, the two organizations will finalize detailed plans and
schedules through further consultation and announce them in due course.
