Diaf, one of South Korea’s top three art fairs after 17 years of existence, will be held this year in May instead of its usual November date. Hosted by the Galleries Association of Daegue and organized by the Diaf Steering Committee, Diaf 2024 will be held at the Daegu Exco for four days, starting with a VIP preview on May 2 and ending on May 5.

Diaf was born in 2008 under the name of ‘Daegu Art Fair’ in Daegu, the birthplace of modern art and the city of culture and art that has produced numerous masters. In order to go beyond the domestic art market and become a global art fair, from 2022, they launched a new brand name, ‘Diaf (Daegu international art fair)’.

Diaf 2024 will feature around 110 booths from domestic and international galleries, and while the number of participating galleries is similar to previous years, the overall scale is expected to be the largest ever, with each booth expanding in size. In addition to works by leading Korean artists such as Lee Ufan, Lee Bae, and Hoon Kwak, there will also be works by internationally renowned artists such as Alex Katz, Yayoi Kusama, George Kondo, and David Galstein.

There will be various programs including the “Live Room,” where lectures, talk shows, and debates can be watched live online, docent tour programs, and artist performance programs in the ‘Art Performance Zone.’ This year’s Diaf will also feature a two-part special exhibition, “New Media Art,” showcasing digital media works on large LED screens.

“Diaf 2024 PREVIEW in SEOUL” will be held from April 18 to 28 at the Culture Hall on the 10th floor of Hyundai Department Store Trade Center, Seoul, to preview the works of participating galleries in advance of Diaf 2024.
