Korean contemporary artist Haegue Yang, one
of the country’s leading figures, has been announced as the new Chair of the
Executive Board of KUNST-WERKE (KW) BERLIN.
KW oversees both the KW Institute for
Contemporary Art and the Berlin Biennale. Yang succeeds Katharina Grosse, who
has held the position for the past four years. With this appointment, KW
continues its tradition of having an artist serve as Chair.

Regarding her new position, Yang commented
“KW accompanies artists in crucial phases of their development—they are not
just a place, but a driving force in the artistic ecosystem. This role is
indispensable and deserves our constant commitment. I am very pleased to be
able to support KW in this responsibility.”
Haegue Yang, who has been a professor at
the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main since 2017, works between Berlin and
Seoul. She is currently featured in the solo exhibition 《Haeuge Yang: Quasi-Heartland》 at the
Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) in the United States, as well as the
touring exhibition 《Haegue Yang: Leap Year》 at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zürich, Switzerland.
