Global
K-pop group BTS’s RM will showcase his personal art collection at the San
Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) from October 2026 to February 2027.
This marks the first collaboration between SFMOMA and a K-pop artist.
Jointly
curated by the museum and RM, the exhibition will feature over 200 works from
RM’s personal collection alongside pieces from the museum’s holdings. According
to SFMOMA, the project was initiated at the museum’s proposal, recognizing RM’s
deep appreciation for and discerning taste in contemporary art.

RM
shared his thoughts, saying, “We live in an era defined by boundaries. I hope
this exhibition becomes a space to reflect on the borders between East and
West, Korea and the U.S., modernity and contemporaneity, the personal and the
universal. There is no prescribed way to appreciate the works, but I hope this
becomes a small yet solid bridge for many.”
Janet
Bishop, Chief Curator at SFMOMA, remarked, “Visitors will have an unprecedented
opportunity to experience the dialogue between RM’s beautiful and contemplative
collection of paintings and sculptures and the museum’s own holdings.”

RM’s
collection includes works by leading figures of Korean modern and contemporary
art as well as renowned artists from around the world. The exhibition will
feature pieces from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds, with many works
being presented to the public for the first time.
Known
as an avid art enthusiast, RM has collected works by globally acclaimed artists
such as Takashi Murakami and KAWS, as well as Korean masters including Yun
Hyong-keun, Kim Yun Shin, and Chang Ucchin. In 2022, the U.S.-based art media
outlet Artnet named RM one of its “35 Innovators” under the category of “The
Investors.”
