Kelvin Kyung Kun Park’s solo exhibition 《RELAY》 runs
from October 8 to 30, at Sewoon Hall.
Kelvin Park explores tensions and relations between
the individual and the collective, and between biological and technological
systems. He regards his works as frames within which subjectivity is
provisionally constructed, allowing questions and perspectives to emerge in
contemporary Asia.

Park’s latest exhibition, 《RELAY》,
examines how neglect of and longing for tradition continue to haunt the
present. Machine vision images of abandoned submerged villages and solemn
ancestral rites intersect with fragments of fictional relics, illuminating a
present that no single narrative can contain. For Park, images hold opposing
realities together, becoming a starting point for reconfiguring perception
itself.

《RELAY》 proposes a
model in which perspective takes shape provisionally through a relay among
material, ecological, biological, technological, linguistic, social, and
epistemic systems. Acting upon one another, these systems jointly shape the
perceiver and what becomes perceptible.
The exhibition invites us into a temporary meeting point where
unresolved emotions, images, objects, bodies, and technologies act upon one
another. Here, we become part of the relay, prompting a question: “How do the
systems see through me?”
