Incheon Art Platform presents a special
exhibition, “The Friendliest,” until September 29. “The Friendliest” focuses on
the human beings living in the digital age.
While today's high level of technological
advancement makes life more convenient and optimistic about the future, there
are many harms behind the amazing technological advancement, such as fear of
technological advancement, individual isolation and depression due to online
communication, hate crime, and climate change.
Many scholars and experts have emphasized
the importance of analog reality as an alternative and solution to overcome
these crises and avoid falling into the digital trap. In particular, they
emphasize the need for direct human contact and encounters.
The exhibition “The Friendliest” pays
attention to and cares about “people”, but it is not about “humans” as unique
beings in the ecosystem or selfish “anthropocentrism”. It talks about humanism
that practices empathy and resonance, about “people” who are equipped with
affinity and feel happy in cooperative relationships, and about us, the
descendants of Homo sapiens who have evolved and survived by cultivating
affection in our genes. This exhibition features 14 artists and invites us to
imagine a friendly future together.
