PS CENTER presents 《BOHNYEON》, a two-person exhibition by Bohnchang Koo and Jinyeong Yeon, on
view through October 2.
《BOHNYEON》 is an exhibition that brings together Bohnchang Koo, a leading
figure in contemporary Korean photography, and Jinyeong Yeon, who has
transformed industrial materials into a sculptural language.
The exhibition explores the traces of things that change and
disappear over time, while contemplating the essence of existence.

The title “BOHNYEON” combines “Boh” from Bohnchang Koo’s name and
“Yeon” from Jinyeong Yeon’s name, while also invoking the philosophical concept
of bonyeon, meaning the fundamental nature or essence of existence.
Through photography and sculpture, two distinct media, the artists
explore surfaces, materiality, and layers of time in different ways,
contemplating the point where disappearance and creation intersect.
Bohnchang Koo delicately captures traces of time accumulated in
objects and spaces through his photographic language, while Jinyeong Yeon
dismantles and reconstructs industrial materials and consumer goods to create
new sensibilities that transcend their original functions.

Despite belonging to different generations and working through
distinct approaches, the two artists explore ways of approaching the essence of
existence through surfaces that, like fashion, are constantly changing and
disappearing.
Through the dialogue between the two artists, 《BOHNYEON》 sheds light on the sensations and temporality left behind by things
that are disappearing, while opening up possibilities for a new form of Vanitas
proposed by contemporary art.
