On September 1, Nuhwa Contemporary, a new international cultural platform based in Seoul and Abu Dhabi that connects Asia and the Gulf region, opened its doors in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
 
The name “Nuhwa” combines “Nuha”–refined intellect–and “Hawa”–creative impulse. Bringing ideas together, Nuhwa embraces artistic experimentation as a catalyst for new narratives and exchange.
 
Founded by Hwasun Lee, who has led an established contemporary art institution in Seoul, Nuhwa Contemporary will continue its collaborations with artists with whom she has worked closely over the years.
 
Building on extensive experience in exhibitions and cultural projects, long-standing relationships with artists and institutions, and an international network developed over time, Nuhwa Contemporary seeks to expand beyond the conventional gallery model and create wide cultural practices across regions.

With its new space in Itaewon, Seoul, Nuhwa Contemporary plans to pursue a broad range of activities, including exhibition planning and production, research, commissions, public programs, international collaborations, and cultural strategy, based on a long-term network connecting Seoul, the Middle East, and other international hubs.
 
Through these activities, it aims to connect different regions and institutions, as well as artists and audiences, through art and to develop new models of cultural collaboration.
 
Marking the launch of Nuhwa Contemporary, its inaugural exhibition is 《Until We Became Fire and Fire Us》, the first solo exhibition in Asia by the Palestinian artist duo Basel Abbas & Ruanne Abou-Rahme. The exhibition runs through November 29.
