Last year’s widely acclaimed two-person exhibition by Kang Seung Lee and Candice Lin at Gallery Hyundai, 《Not I, not I, but the wind that blows through me》 (Aug 27–Oct 5, 2025), has been selected for Frieze magazine’s “The Ten Best Shows Around the World of 2025.”

The exhibition 《Not I, not I, but the wind that blows through me》 drew significant attention by premiering more than 30 new works, including Kang Seung Lee’s new video piece Skin (2024), along with new graphite drawings, gold-thread embroidery on sambe (Korean hemp fabric), and assemblages, as well as Candice Lin’s new video animations, paintings, and sculptures.

Frieze editor Cassie Packard explained the selection by noting that “the two Los Angeles–based artists made for an electric pairing, presenting both new and recent works.” She also highlighted that much of the work featured in the exhibition had a corporeal orientation.

Packard observed that Kang Seung Lee conceived of skin as a living archive and connective surface through his mixed-media works (Untitled (Skin, Constellation), 2024–ongoing) and video (Skin, 2024). Meanwhile, Candice Lin’s edible drawings (Cómeme, 吃我 (Chī wǒ), Eat Me, Spis Mig, 2025) and sculpture, expelling a potable tincture (Vomit Clock, 2025), considered bodily processes and took a more participatory tack.
