The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) will begin
supporting Korean artists participating in the NEW INC program, an
international residency and cultural incubator run by the New Museum in New
York, starting in 2025.

Launched in 2014, NEW INC is the first
museum-led cultural incubator initiated by the New Museum. Each year, selected
participants from open calls are supported for approximately one year as they
experiment and collaborate across the fields of art, design, and technology,
with opportunities for mentorship, workshops, networking, and project
presentations.

Celebrating its 12th anniversary this year,
the program has selected 74 artists, collectives, nonprofits, and startups.
From September 2025 to June 2026, participants will develop their projects
within one of five tracks reflecting the New Museum’s social values: Art &
Code, Creative Science, Extended Realities, Social Architecture, and
Cooperative Studies.

In 2024, ARKO signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with the New Museum, and as part of its Designated Overseas
Residency Support Program, will officially support one Korean artist selected
for the NEW INC program each year from 2025 to 2027.

Through a separate open call and review
process for Korean artists to select the 2025 participant, Yuri Lee was chosen
from among 103 applicants to receive ARKO’s official support. In addition,
Sabina Hyoju Ahn, Yaloo, and Jinseok Choi were also selected through this
process to participate in the program, bringing the total number of Korean
artists in NEW INC’s 2025 cohort to four.

This marks the largest participation of Korean
artists in the program’s history, representing a significant milestone in
ARKO’s efforts to expand global opportunities for Korean contemporary artists.
