In 2026, Leeum and Hoam will present a vibrant lineup of exhibitions exploring contemporary art from multiple perspectives.

First, Leeum Museum of Art will present an international exchange exhibition featuring works by first-generation women installation artists, alongside solo exhibitions by leading international and Korean artists who have shaped contemporary art since the 1990s.

In the first half of next year, Leeum Museum of Art presents the first solo exhibition in Korea, 《Tino Sehgal / Collection (working title)》 (February, M2), by Tino Sehgal, an artist who has pioneered new horizons in contemporary art since the 1990s. Sehgal creates “constructed situations” in which trained ‘interpreters’ move, sing, and talk, allowing them to interact with the audience in real time.

The exhibition will include new works synthesizing 25 years of the artist's practice, as well as site-specific live art that creatively constructs pieces from the Leeum collection.

In addition, the museum will present the group exhibition 《Inside Other Spaces: Environments by Women Artists 1956–1976 (TBC)》 (May, Child Education & Culture Center), which brings together the pioneering works of the first generation of female artists from around the world who redefined art by creating immersive environments that invited viewers to not just view, but also to experience and interact with their works of art.

The exhibition thus draws attention to the experimental artistic endeavors and achievements of artists previously overlooked for their critical impact on the development and history of environments and installations.

Expanding on the original exhibition presented at Haus der Kunst, München - 《Inside Other Spaces: Environments by Women Artists 1956-1976》, Leeum will include additional works by artists whose works deserve critical attention and inclusion in the artistic canon of this field.

In the second half of 2026, the museum will stage a large-scale solo exhibition of 《KOO JEONG A (TBC)》 (September, M2), who represented the Korean Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale. Koo has long explored the invisible yet palpable flows of energy—such as magnetism or scent—creating distinctive works that subtly and ambiguously disrupt our sensory order.

Centered on the conceptual universe the artist calls “OUSSS,” the exhibition will unfold not only in the M2 gallery but also throughout the museum—in the lobby, behind walls, and among traditional artworks—offering visitors unexpected encounters and a heightened sensory experience.

Meanwhile, Hoam Museum of Art will continue its efforts to establish itself—alongside Leeum—as a major art institution in the Seoul metropolitan area by presenting a retrospective highlighting a pioneering Korean woman sculptor, followed by the “Art Spectrum” exhibition, which actively reflects the current landscape of contemporary Asian art.

In the first half of the year, the museum will host 《Kim Yun Shin Retrospective (working title)》 in March—the first large-scale retrospective to spotlight the seven-decade artistic career of Kim Yun Shin, a seminal first-generation Korean woman sculptor.

As the museum’s first-ever solo exhibition dedicated to a Korean female artist, it offers a valuable opportunity to survey the full breadth of Kim’s practice, which overcame the barren postwar artistic environment to establish a unique sculptural language in which life, nature, and art become one.

In the second half of 2026, Hoam Museum of Art will present 《Art Spectrum 2026》 (September), co-curated with Palais de Tokyo (est. 2002), Europe’s largest art center known for its experimental programs reflecting contemporary art scenes. This exhibition marks a new phase for ‘Art Spectrum,’ a platform that has supported and showcased emerging Korean artists for over 20 years, now expanding into an experimental format encompassing contemporary Asian art, film, design, architecture, and experimental music.

For the first time since its inception, ‘Art Spectrum’ will take place at Hoam Museum of Art, transforming the museum’s interior, exterior, and ancillary spaces into a dynamic stage for artistic experimentation.

In 2026, alongside exhibitions at Leeum and Hoam, the museum will introduce a special project as a new permanent installation on the Leeum outdoor deck. In April, Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco will unveil a newly commissioned work based on the concept of "Three Friends of Winter: Sehansamwoo(歲寒三友)", transforming the deck into a nature-oriented and publicly accessible platform that invites broader engagement.
