Art Center White Block is presenting the group exhibition 《Breath Topography》
through October 12, featuring six Paju-based artists—Kim Hyungjoo, Seo Wonmi,
Yoo Changchang, Yoon Sangyoon, Pyo Youngsil, and Hong Jungouk.
The exhibition aims to expand the creative foundation of local
artists while connecting Paju’s cultural assets with contemporary visual art,
showcasing around 17 works of painting and sculpture.
Centered on the keyword “breath,” 《Breath Topography》 brings together six
artists’ individual perspectives to interpret the meanings of “breath” and “pause.”
Through their respective practices, they explore themes of everyday life,
emotion, memory, healing, and recovery.

Breath is the most basic and essential rhythm of life—an act we
repeat unconsciously, yet one that sustains us. At times, it becomes a discreet
yet resilient force that supports the heart. The flow of breath crosses through
relationships, interweaves with the breath of others, and seeps into places and
memories to create new layers.
The six participating artists summon this “breath” through their
own perspectives and mediums, layering their sensations, times, and memories
upon a shared surface. The resulting map does not guide a single route but
reveals a multilayered path where emotion, memory, recovery, and care
intertwine.
In this way, the exhibition artistically reflects on the
restoration of the senses and collective care, offering viewers a space for
psychological respite and immersive engagement.
