Art Center White Block is presenting the
group exhibition 《Linking
Island》
through July 13.
In a rapidly changing society, communities
are becoming increasingly fragmented, leaving individuals more vulnerable to
isolation and loneliness. 《Linking Island》 uses the metaphor of "islands" to explore this
contemporary loneliness, viewing it not merely as a personal emotion but as a
social issue, and attempts to reconnect weakened communities.

The exhibition features six artists — Kwon
Hyeseong, Jiyoung Yoon, Yi Young Uk, Lim Sodam, Chanmin Jeong, and KL — who
present various aspects of loneliness through diverse media such as
installation, painting, video, and sculpture.
Reflecting each artist’s own experiences
and perspectives, the works encourage visitors to confront their own sense of
isolation and explore new possibilities for connection with others.
Additionally, the exhibition invites local
residents and marginalized members of society to participate in programs,
experimenting with ways to restore relationships within the community and
discover new modes of communication.

Just as islands are connected beneath the
sea to a larger continent, 《Linking Island》 symbolically presents the process of reconnecting isolated
individuals and communities, exploring various ways to restore a sense of
solidarity among people.
