CR Collective presents 《EVE》, a solo exhibition by artist Yeongbin Lee, on view through October

At the threshold where a year passes over
into the next, from 11:55 p.m. on December 31 to 12:05 a.m. on January 1, Lee
Yeongbin has spent thirteen years collecting the sounds of this brief
ten-minute interval.
Having lived as a foreigner in Germany rather
than Korea, the artist has gathered, listened to, and listened again to moments
that come to everyone and arrive at the same time each year, recalling the
lives of others from a place where longing and curiosity toward the other
converge.
《EVE》 is a time and space built up from sounds collected in this way,
together with drawings made as scenes imagined while listening to those sounds
again and again. Its temporality is produced by sounds summoned from different
moments; its space takes shape through the doors and walls, windows and gaps
that drawings, as scenes unfolded from those sounds, have raised.
