Next May, the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) will be held at the Seoul Arts Center.

ISEA is an international symposium organized by ISEA International, a non-profit organization founded in the Netherlands in 1990. Since 1988, this symposium has brought together over 2,000 artists and academic experts from around the world. It is the largest media art festival, featuring a wide range of associated programs, including exhibitions, performances, workshops, screenings, and artist talks, all centered around the themes of art, science, and technology.

In 2019, ISEA was held at Asia Culture Center in Gwangju under the theme “Lux Aeterna.” At ISEA2019, approximately 100 works were showcased, featuring a diverse array of installations, performances, screenings, mappings, and interactive pieces that actively engaged the audience.

ISEA 2025 will once again be held in Korea, organized by art center nabi. The theme for this edition is "동동 (憧憧, Dong-Dong): Creators’ Universe," inspired by a phrase from the ancient Eastern philosophical text I Ching (Book of Changes, 易經). It emphasizes the force of love and solidarity that transcends global conflicts and divisions. ISEA 2025 aims to explore a new worldview transcends the recurring theme of posthumanism in contemporary art, as well as the divisions between East and West, art and science, materiality and spirituality, and technology and humanity.

Submissions for both academic and artistic programs for ISEA2025 are now open as of August 5, and applications can currently be submitted through the ISEA 2025 website (https://isea2025.isea-international.org/about/theme/).
