A-Lounge Contemporary presents a solo exhibition 《Susurrus》 by
artist Hwang Sunyoung, on view through August 29.
Hwang Sunyoung (b. 1988) explores physical and psychological
layering in her work, creating a sense of strata beneath and within the picture
plane. Her practice reflects the unconscious flow of internalized thoughts,
emotions, memories, and impressions, which she materializes into tangible
forms. Through this process, Hwang captures the incoherent and metaphorical
nature of what lies beneath the surface.

《Susurrus》 explores an unseen realm that remains invisible yet undeniably
present. Through delicate painterly gestures, the exhibition gives form to the
inner worlds and voices of those who exist beyond the reach of our gaze,
inviting viewers to reflect on remembrance, mourning, and quiet acts of
recognition.
Through sensations and reflections drawn from nature and ecosystems,
including perennial snow, glaciers, watermelon snow, and ice algae, the
exhibition follows the whispers and vibrations of beings that exist within
invisible realms. We invite you to listen closely to the subtle resonances and
quiet voices that emerge from within.
