The Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism’s National Asian Culture Center (ACC) is launching a global open call
for creators to participate in the “ACC CREATORS 2026 Residency,” a support
program for interdisciplinary content creation and production. Applications
will be accepted until March 1.
Now in its 11th edition, the ACC Creators
Residency aims to serve as a sustainable creation platform that converges art
and technology, supporting interdisciplinary creative projects by artists and
experts from diverse fields.
The theme of this year’s residency is
“Speculative Communities.” It begins with a series of questions: Will
communities continue to exist in an ever-advancing technological society of the
future? If so, in what forms might they be reimagined? Can communities be
sustained? Can algorithms, non-human entities, and data become part of a
community? Through the concept of communities that can be designed through
technology, the program explores the possibilities and limitations of both
present and future communities.

The open call is divided into three
categories: ▲ Art & Technology (6 teams) ▲ Audiovisual (1 team) ▲ Immersive
Sound (1 team). Depending on the category, selected teams will receive project
grants ranging from KRW 20 million to 30 million. The call is open to any
creators—artists, specialists, engineers, and others—whose proposals align with
this year’s theme and who are capable of conducting research and development,
production, and presenting the final outcomes (exhibition) through experimental
projects in the field of Art & Technology.
Based on submitted proposals, ACC will
conduct a two-stage selection process consisting of a document review followed
by an online presentation and interview. A total of eight teams (or
individuals) will be selected in April. From July, participants will spend five
months completing their projects at the ACC ACT Studio, supported by residency
programs including thematic seminars, creative workshops, and expert
consultations.

The ACC ACT Studio consists of a Machine
& Fabrication Studio equipped for wood and metal work, a Combined Studio
that provides individual workspaces for residency participants along with 3D
printing and scanning support, and a Media Studio outfitted with audiovisual,
stereoscopic imaging, and immersive sound systems. Participants are given
opportunities to conduct research, development, production, and experimentation
using these facilities.
The final project outcomes will be
presented to the public in various formats—including exhibitions, performances,
presentations, and workshops—at the ACC ACT Studio starting November 20.
Applications can be submitted online
through the ACC website (www.acc.go.kr) after registering as a member and
completing the application form. Further details about the open call are
available on the ACC website.
