National Asian Culture Center (ACC)
presents a special exhibition 《ACC NEXT Emerging Asian
Artists》 on view through March 29.
The 《ACC NEXT
Emerging Asian Artists》 exhibition, newly presented by
the ACC, introduces promising young artists poised to lead the future of Asian
art. The exhibition is designed to foster a sustainable artistic ecosystem by
connecting these artists and expanding their networks. As a response to the
shifting tides of the environment, technology, and society, it poses timely
questions about Asia’s current state. True to its name, “NEXT” envisions the
future trajectory and potential of Asian art.

The five participating artists (or teams),
both from Korea and abroad, open the exhibition with works rooted in their
personal experiences and expand into shared issues facing Asia today, expressed
through distinct forms and artistic languages. Their experimentation across
different media, including video, installation, sound, and performance, does
not attempt to define Asia through a singular narrative. Instead, their works
diverge, intersect, and cross borders to form a loosely connected network that stretches
across the continent.
This flexible web of relations becomes an
attitude of awareness and hospitality toward difference, awakening an
alternative sense of community. The exhibition captures a singular scene of
contemporary Asian art by presenting these individual artistic practices as
they coexist within a shared space.

The 《ACC NEXT》 goes beyond simply showcasing the diverse perspectives of emerging
artists. It aims to continuously observe and archive the evolving landscape of
contemporary Asian art. In this regard, the exhibition is not presented as a
conclusive outcome, but as a starting point for tracing the trajectories that
the aesthetic insights of a new generation might follow.
