Gallery SP presents a two-person exhibition
《Stroke, Cell, and The Ghost》 by
Sunwon Chang and Juwon Jeong, on view through February 28.
Departing from an understanding of painting
centered on the finished image, this exhibition focuses instead on the most
fundamental act that constitutes painting: the stroke.

The exhibition title, 《Stroke, Cell, and The Ghost》, metaphorically
points to the ways in which the two artists engage with the stroke in their
painting practices. In this exhibition, the stroke drives a repeated cycle of
formation, transformation, and disappearance. Brushstrokes give rise to forms
across the surface, only to dissolve again, becoming the groundwork for
subsequent images.
Within this process, strokes at times
spread like cells, while at other moments they remain elusive and ungraspable,
like ghosts. Through the unstable states generated by the stroke, the paintings
of Sunwon Chang and Juwon Jeong evoke the multilayered sensibilities of a
living, dynamic reality.
