OUTHOUSE opens its first exhibition of 2026
with the fundraising exhibition 《The Present of Birds:
Borderline》, on view through February 8. This marks the
first fundraising exhibition presented by OUTHOUSE since its opening in 2018,
and is structured to combine exhibition and sales.
Rather than foregrounding the purpose of
fundraising, 《The Present of Birds: Borderline》 is curated around works by artists who have maintained relationships
with OUTHOUSE or with whom the space hopes to build future connections.
Featuring approximately 100 works by 28
artists that take birds as either a theme or a subject, the exhibition examines
the multilayered meanings of birds—figures long perceived as symbols of freedom
and flight, yet also regarded as objects of fear, aversion, and boundaries.
Funds raised through the exhibition will be
used to support the operation of OUTHOUSE in 2026 as well as the participating
artists. The exhibition aspires to become an occasion for another leap and
flight—for both the space and the artists involved.
Founded in 2018 in Mangwon-dong, OUTHOUSE
is an artist-run exhibition space dedicated to contemporary artists. Serving as
a mediator between artists and the art field, it has actively pursued the
generation of exhibition discourse and the exploration of practical
methodologies.
