The Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) is hosting the fourth exhibition of the “IBK&GMoMA Young Artist 2023” project, titled YALOO: Pickled Chamber, at the lobby of the IBK headquarters in Euljiro, Seoul. The artist Yaloo (b. 1987) explores her unique worldview experimentally using techniques such as projection mapping, VR, media walls, and digital montages. She delves into the new possibilities of digital video images, unfolding innovative storytelling. The showcased artwork, Pickled Chamber, is an immersive media installation where the artist overlays and intersects the worldviews of works created based on mythology and science, constructing a dramatic narrative. The piece portrays a story where the perspective transcends human-centered views, depicting the coexistence of humans and non-humans, with a theme of repeated cycles of creation and extinction.

IBK&GMoMA Young Artist 2023 is a program in collaboration with IBK and the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art. It supports promising emerging artists through funding for new works, organizing solo exhibitions, and promoting their artworks. This year’s selected artists include Kai Oh (b. 1992), Hyunsun Jeon (b. 1989), and Lee Changwoon (b. 1986). IBK plans to select the most outstanding artist among the four and organize a solo exhibition for the award winner at the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art in 2024.
