The Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art has signed a business agreement with the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (DMZ Docs), which continues to develop the documentary industry and support creators, to develop the cultural and artistic scene in Gyeonggi Province.
On April 5 (Friday), Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art held a business agreement ceremony with Jang Hae-rang, executive committee chairperson of the DMZ Docs, Jeon Seung Bo, director of Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, and officials from both organizations.
The MOU aims to promote mutual development and cooperation between the DMZ Docs and Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, and details include ▲ cooperation on the 4.16 10th anniversary memorial project ▲ cooperation on cultural, artistic, and educational programs during the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival ▲ joint planning and support for cultural and artistic contents provided to the local community.
The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival will screen four short documentaries at the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art auditorium on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 as part of the 10th anniversary commemoration of the Sewol ferry disaster, and will continue to work with the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art to expand opportunities for the people of Gyeonggi Province to enjoy cultural life.
Jang Hae-rang, executive committee chairperson of the DMZ Docs, said, “We will meet again at the time and place where we encountered the ‘Sewol Ferry’ 10 years ago. We hope that this collaboration with the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art will be a meaningful time to reflect on why we should remember the yellow ribbon, what the substance of that memory is, and how our society should sublimate it.”
Jeon Seung Bo, director of Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, said, “Through this agreement with the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, we have come up with a plan to introduce visitors to the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art to the world of film art, which is adjacent to fine art, in a more professional manner,” and “The Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art will continue to collaborate with various cultural and artistic organizations to bring joy to many people in the local community.”
The 16th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, which will screen more than 120 of the latest Korean and international documentaries, will take place from September 26 to October 2 in Paju City and Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, for seven days.
