MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho has been named the 38th Kim Se-Choong Sculpture Award laureate. Established in 1987, the Kim Se-Choong Sculpture Award was enacted to honor the accomplishments of Kim Se-Choong (1928–1986).
The panel of judges reviewed various forms of sculptural works that broadened their scope to contemporary art. In selecting MOON & JEON as the final winners through a series of heated discussions and anonymous voting, the jury applauded the originality, consistency, and contemporaneity of the duo’s sculptural works that successfully adapt to the changing landscape of sculpture as they expand forms of artistic expression and hybridize genres with the advent of the digital age.

MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho, who have consistently garnered attention in the domestic and international art worlds, began collaborating in 2009 with the idea of making practical art, a work that provides an opportunity for reflection, while thinking about the meaning of contemporary art and artworks, the expendability of exhibitions, and the absence of criticism. They were invited to the Documenta (13) in Kassel, the first Korean artists to participate since Nam June Paik and Keun Byung Yook, and were awarded the Noon Award at Gwangju Biennale (2012) and the MMCA Korean Artist Award 2012. In 2013, they were awarded the 1st Multitude Art Prize, and in 2015, selected to represent Korea in the Korean Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale. They are actively exhibiting at leading institutions around the world and are currently holding a solo exhibition “Weather Station” at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing, until February 9, 2025.
And, the 35th Kim Se-Choong Sculpture Award for Young Artists, which recognizes artists 45 years old or younger, was awarded to Inbai Kim.
