Seongbuk Museum of Art presents a solo exhibition 《Names Left Open》 by artist CHUNG Bo-Won, on view through September 6.
For many years, Seongbuk Museum of Art has been committed to
reexamining the achievements of women artists who have played pivotal roles in
shaping Korean contemporary art through their uncompromising artistic vision.
As part of this ongoing initiative, the museum presents a special
exhibition surveying more than five decades of work by sculptor CHUNG Bo-Won
(b. 1947), who studied sculpture and architecture in both Korea and France and
has maintained an active artistic practice ever since.

This exhibition marks CHUNG Bo-Won's first solo presentation at a
public art museum. Best known for her architecturally scaled public sculptures,
Chung has consistently expanded the possibilities of sculpture beyond the
notion of a purely material object, conceiving it instead as a relational field
where space, light, sound, and human experience converge.
Bringing together works from the 1970s to the present, the
exhibition explores both the continuity and the contemporary relevance of her
artistic practice. It also offers an opportunity to reconsider the gaps within
the relatively narrow narrative of Korean modern and contemporary sculpture.
