Hyundai
Motor Group will continue its support for emerging media artists this year.
On
Tuesday, May 26, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it will hold an open call
for media art proposals for The 7th VH AWARD from May 26 to July 21.
The VH
AWARD is a platform that supports the artistic challenges and experimental
practices of next-generation artists who reinterpret Asian cultural,
historical, and emotional contexts through the language of contemporary media
art.
Launched
in 2016 as a competition for Korean artists, the award expanded its scope to
artists across Asia beginning with its fourth edition and has since been held
biennially. The award encompasses a wide range of genres, including video art,
film, games, animation, and motion graphics.

Building
on its legacy, the 7th VH AWARD reinforces Hyundai Motor Group’s commitment to
fostering a sustainable creative environment. This new edition continues with
increased production grants for finalists and the Grand Prix recipient.
In
addition, it will also introduce a new Honorary Mention category to recognize a
broader range of artists and foster more diverse contemporary voices. These
enhancements aim to provide artists with a solid and extensive foundation for
pursuing challenging and experimental projects.
Through
the open call, five finalists will be selected, each receiving a production
grant to create a new work. The finalists will also participate in an expanded
online residency program, newly developed in partnership with Ars Electronica,
the globally renowned media art institution based in Linz, Austria.
The
program supports artistic development through masterclasses and workshops.
Artists selected for the new Honorary Mention category will also be invited to
join selected components of the online residency program.
