The Gangwon International Triennale 2024, hosted by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and organized by the Gangwon Art & Cultural Foundation and Pyeongchang County, opened on September 26 and will run until October 27 across various locations in Pyeongchang County.

This year's event, held under the theme “Ecological Art from the Beneath,” features 77 teams (85 artists) from 22 countries, showcasing over 200 works. The Triennale focuses on alternative and micro perspectives and organic cooperation, viewing ecological art as an "attitude" that redefines the relationships between humans and nature, humans and humans, and local and global contexts.

Additionally, Gangwon International Triennale 2024 aims to minimize waste in its exhibitions, drawing inspiration from ant tunnels, often referred to as the “ventilation system of the Earth” in the era of climate crisis.

The exhibition is divided into five sections and will take place at key locations, including the Pyeongchang Trout Art Experience Center Main Hall, Pyeongchang Cultural City Foundation, Jinbu Old Market, Gate Ball Center & Woljeongsa, and the Pavilion.

Noteworthy exhibitions include the Austria Künstlerhaus special exhibition “Longing For Future” and “Searching for Artists in Pyeongchang,” which are part of the Triennale. The special exhibition “Longing For Future,” curated by Tanja Prušnik, President of Künstlerhaus, features seven teams (nine artists), including Mladen Jadrić, and explores trends in contemporary Austrian art while raising questions about the past, present, and future architectural and artistic models. Meanwhile, “Searching for Artists in Pyeongchang” highlights eight artists currently living and working in Pyeongchang County.

Furthermore, in connection with the Gangwon International Triennale 2024, the “Gangwon Artists Metaverse Exhibition,” featuring 11 artists, will be available online and displayed in the shop windows of collaboration stores in Jinbu Old Market during the exhibition period.
