Exhibition view of "Somewhere Above the Ground," CHAPTER II. Photo by Aproject Company.
CHAPTER II presents Anna Han’s solo exhibiton “Somewhere Above the Ground” on view at CHAPTER II YARD through February 26, 2022.
Anna Han transforms the exhibition space deliberately by changing the color of the walls, injecting light, or adjusting the structure. The multi-colored, pastel-toned ellipses in the exhibition represent the ever-changing sky as well as the artist’s changing emotions. Han transformed the enclosed exhibition space to reflect the infinite depths of the heavens and express the longing for autonomy after the COVID-19 outbreak and hope for the future.
Anna Han completed her BFA at Pratt Institute, New York and the MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan. After graduating from Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, Han has not only presented her works at multiple internal leading art establishments or expositions such as Wooyang Museum of Contemporary Art (2021), Museum SAN (2019), Seoul Museum of Art (2018), Gallery Baton (2017), OCI Museum of Art (2014) but also attended exhibitions in several states of North America including New York, Michigan and Maine. She was also selected by international artist residency programs in Cheongju(KR), Goyang(KR), New York(US) and Bad Ems(DE); her works are included in collections of prestigious institutions including the Seoul Museum of Art.
U.PINE MED, a Korean medical device company, and Gallery Baton established Chapter II in Yeonnam-dong in 2016 to support young Korean and international contemporary artists who have just begun their careers as professional artists. Seongsu-dong’s Chapter II Yard opened in 2020.
