Factory2 presents a project exhibition “Naran Naran: Days of Reading” through July 7. “Naran Naran: Days of Reading” is a project that welcomes diverse voices and actively proposes the act of reading individually and gathering in groups. During the project, Factory2 will become a reading room and gathering place where everyone is free to come and go, and we hope to connect people.
Twenty people working in the field of art and culture have each selected a book on the theme of diversity and will share their thoughts and stories along with books they have borrowed or donated. Side-by-side with them in the same space will be photographer Yezoi Hwang’s series of photographs, There Before (2022).
In addition to the 20 books, an audio file of book excerpts recorded by the selectors themselves, picture books selected for different accessibility levels, including younger ages, and an informational text about the gathering make the project multifaceted and accessible.
The attitude towards diversity was also reflected in the graphic design and space design. The graphic design of two people of different sizes gathered together was created by yunakimc, and the book rack, which combines the functions of both a light and a bookcase, was designed by architect Boram Kim. And the chairs, where the thoughts of the museum and the thoughts of the audience dwell in various designs, were provided by d&department seoul by MMMG.
In addition, the audience is invited to participate in eleven gatherings over the course of the project, where topics such as disability, children, queerness, hospitality, illness, and refugees are shared. Through the acts of speaking, listening, reading, writing, and making in the gatherings, each person’s unique story will be experienced in a communal sense.
