Sunjung Kim, Artistic Director of Art Sonje
Center, has been appointed as the first East Asian member of the K11 Art
Foundation International Council.
Kim currently serves as the Artistic
Director of Art Sonje Center (2022–) and Chair of ICOM Korea (2023–). She also
leads the REAL DMZ PROJECT (2011–). In addition, she has also been a Board
Member of ICOM ASPAC and previously held the position of President of the
Gwangju Biennale Foundation (2017–2021).

In 2020, she was named one of ArtReview’s
Power 100, further affirming her international influence. As a curator, Kim has
organized numerous exhibitions featuring prominent Korean and international
artists such as Kim Beom, Haegue Yang, and Lee Bul. Her recent projects include
co-curating 《Do Ho Suh: Speculations》 and 《Adrián Villar Rojas: The Language of
the Enemy》.
In addition, her exhibition 《Forms of the Shadow》, held at Vienna
Secession last year, received global attention for its in-depth engagement with
contemporary issues such as the pandemic, climate crisis, and geopolitical
tension.

K11 Art Foundation stated, “We are honoured
to have Ms. Kim on board as the first Asian member of our International
Council,” adding, “With her invaluable expertise and experience, we look
forward to relentlessly promoting contemporary Asian art and further incubating
Asian artists and curators onto the international platform.”
Meanwhile, the K11 Art Foundation is a non-profit
arts organization founded in 2010 by Adrian Cheng. The foundation has supported
more than 1,000 emerging and mid-career artists and organized over 2,000
large-scale exhibitions, playing a key role in bringing contemporary Asian
artists into the global art scene.
