The Daejeon Museum of Art is presenting the young artist support exhibition 《Next Code 2025: Stage Where It All Unfolded》 in its Main Building Galleries 3 and 4 through November 23.

Established in 1999 to foster the creativity of emerging artists from the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions, ‘Next Code’ has discovered and nurtured 158 artists over the past 25 years. This year, following a portfolio open call in December 2024 and an expert jury review in January 2025, seven artists—Kim Minchae, Song Sanghyun, Lee Seongeun, Lee Jiyeon, Lim Yunmook, Shin Yongjae, and In Yeonghye—were selected.

In 2025, the City of Daejeon expanded its support to provide not only exhibition opportunities but also critic matching and creative grants, building a stronger foundation for sustainable artistic practice. Under the subtitle “Stage Where It All Unfolded,” the exhibition reflects on the forces that drive young people’s lives today and the concerns they hold for the future.

Each artist brings a distinct voice to the exhibition. Song Sanghyun explores vanished presences and traces from history through photography and video, while Kim Minchae pursues sensory experiences through ambiguous imagery. Lee Seongeun addresses dystopian realities of modern cities and social structures, and Lee Jiyeon integrates environmental activism into art through projects such as Sea Brushing.

Lim Yunmook layers fragments of daily life as if weaving a fabric, while Shin Yongjae continues a painting practice that connects nature and the inner self. Finally, In Yeonghye reinterprets fiber and crochet techniques within the language of contemporary art.
