Practice presents a special exhibition 《The Grotesque,
yet Virtuous》 on view through August 17.
The
exhibition, 《The Grotesque, yet Virtuous》, begins with the notion of the “grotesque”—forms that are
irregular, atypical, and unfamiliar, often provoking sensations of discomfort
or strangeness.
The
grotesque is grounded in dissonance, abnormality, and the intense collision,
opposition, or uneasy coexistence of comedy and tragedy. This sense of
violation invites a critical reassessment of today’s norms, prompting an
awareness of the contemporary conditions from outside the generalized modes of
life.
