On March
1, London-based gallery Carlos/Ishikawa announced that it now represents artist
Moka Lee (b. 1996).
Moka Lee’s
work spans portraiture, still life, and landscapes, inspired by photos found on
social media. Her paintings are filled with collisions of unstable emotions
that, though widespread in society, remain unspoken. Resembling the surface of
retro photographs, her paintings are composed of thin layers of oil paint,
representing layers of emotions built up within the work.

Lee has
been making a significant impact on the global art scene, having been named one
of the most noteworthy emerging artists in “Artsy Vanguard 2025” last year and
achieving a record auction result of 300 million KRW at Phillips Hong Kong.
In
January, Lee held her first solo exhibition in the UK, 《Face ID》, at Carlos/Ishikawa, marking her
entry into the London art scene. With this new partnership, anticipation is
growing for the artist’s future endeavors in the UK.
