ARKO Art Center presents the 2025 ARKO Art Studio exhibition 《In Situ》, on view through January 18, 2026.

The exhibition 《In Situ》 introduces the works of the 1st and 2nd cohort of artists in residence at ARKO Art Studio, which opened this June in Pyeongchang-dong. It aims to offer audiences an opportunity to experience, in a multifaceted way, the notion of “site” as explored by the artists during their residency.

The exhibition title 《In Situ》 derives from the Latin phrase meaning “in the original place” or “on site,” underscoring the exhibition’s focus on the situated nature of the artists’ creative processes, from the studio to the gallery. To this end, the exhibition centers on each artist’s working process and is conceived as a reconstruction of the studio within the museum space, creating a setting where time and space overlap, unfold, and coexist.

In this way, the exhibition creates a space where the research, reflections, and traces of experimentation accumulated by the artists during their residency are activated anew within the gallery. The distinctive material languages of each artist intersect on site, opening up time for their worlds to expand through this encounter.

As part of the exhibition’s public programs, an artist talk (Nov. 21), in which the resident artists discuss their work with visitors, will be held, along with a roundtable in January 2026 that will examine the current state and future of domestic residencies from the perspective of residency organizers.
