Artsy, a global art platform, has announced
a list of 10 galleries that had a breakout year in 2024 despite the challenging
global economic conditions. Among 10 galleries, N/A Gallery, a Korean gallery
located in Euljiro, Seoul, was featured.
Founded in 2018, N/A Gallery is run by
photographers Jin Oh and Jinwoo Park and has been known for its experimental
exhibitions showcasing the works of promising young artists. Additionally, N/A
has gained prominence in the domestic and international art scenes by
participating in major international art fairs.
Artsy described N/A as having "quickly
made a name for itself in Seoul’s fast-moving gallery scene with its eclectic
and multidisciplinary programming." Artsy also highlighted N/A’s active
expansion beyond Korea since last year.
In September, London tastemaker Ginny on
Frederick presented the group exhibition at N/A in Seoul. In October, it hosted
an exhibition of works by Muyeong Kim at Frieze No. 9 Cork Street in London. Later
that month, it also participated in Paris Internationale with a two-person
presentation featuring Jiyoon Chung and Muyeong Kim. The year was capped off
with an appearance at Art Collaboration Kyoto later that month, featuring work
by Chung, Hardy Hill, and Jeman Seo.
Other galleries featured on the list include Megan Mulrooney (Los Angeles), Nonaka-Hill (Los Angeles, Kyoto), Brunette Coleman (London), NIKA Project Space (Paris, Dubai), Cerrado Galeria (Brasília, Goiânia; Brazil), Carvalho Park (Brooklyn, NY), Mia Karlova Galerie (Amsterdam), Saatchi Yates (London), and Loft Art Gallery (Marrakech, Casablanca; Morocco).
