The 15th edition of the Gwangju Biennale, scheduled to commence on September 7, 2024, and coinciding with the event’s 30th anniversary, will feature its most extensive collection of national pavilions to date.

Spanning various locations in southwestern Korean cities, including Yanglim-dong and Dongmyeong-dong metropolitan areas, the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion project aims to engage approximately 30 countries. Notably, eight Southeast Asian nations, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, have already confirmed their participation. 

President Park Yang-woo of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation expressed enthusiasm, stating that the Pavilion has rapidly evolved since its inception in 2018, establishing itself as a prominent platform for cultural exchange and showcasing artists and artworks from leading international cultural institutions. 

Anticipated to run until December 1, 2024, the 15th Gwangju Biennale, curated by artistic director Nicolas Bourriaud, is themed PANSORI ― a soundscape of the 21st century.
