KICHE presents a group exhibition 《Floating Spores》 on view through March 15. 《Floating Spores》 features three artists—Hwasoo Yoo, Seung Ae Lee, and So Young Park—who explore and practice their work within their distinct and solid perspectives, dealing with what is both there and not there, absent yet existing.

What stands out in their work is the way they reflect their condensed perspectives on perceiving their surroundings and forming relationships. They deepen their multidimensional imagination—capable of transcending the visible and sensory space-time of what we call civilization or reality—while simultaneously striving to maintain aesthetic balance.

Thus, the formal approaches and persistent material investigations pursued by the three artists serve as counterweight, sustaining the tight aesthetic tension within their works.

So Young Park (b.1971) has explored the relationships between nature, humans, and objects through the language of painting on a flat surface. Her sci-fi-inspired and dreamlike paintings break down continuous or linear time and space, presenting a realm of coexistence where everything is intricately intertwined.

Hwasoo Yoo (b.1979) questions the societal standards that separate humans from non-humans, the normal from the abnormal, and the useful from the useless, and works to overturn the social illusions and prejudices created by such boundaries through sculptural installations.

Seung Ae Lee (b.1979) conveys intangible elements such as light, sound, intimate emotions, and unseen faith and spirit through her art. Lee utilizes the rubbings of refined natural materials, such as wood and minerals, as well as everyday objects imbued with her own memories, as compositional elements in her paintings.
