Created in 2004, this work consists of a simple composition of two overlapping circles and text, including the ‘funk’ in ‘Funkchestra’. ‘Funk’ should be written as ‘Punk’ according to Korean notation, but since ‘Punk’ is also the standard word for rock music, it is difficult to distinguish between the two.
However, the artist’s favorite genre is funk, so he writes it as funk. Rather than referring to a specific music genre, the artist’s ‘Funkchestra’ expresses the overall influence of pop culture through strong colors, simple patterns, and symbols.
