Art Center White Block presents the third exhibition of "Ah! East Asian Painting: Dongyanghua, One and All," a project that aims to read the current state of contemporary East Asian Painting, from July 19 to October 6. The project is curated by Lee Jeong Bae, who majored in East Asian Painting and has been considering the place of East Asian Painting in contemporary art.

"Ah! East Asian Painting: Dongyanghua, One and All" will showcase the works of Kwon Hyeseong, Nana & Felix, Sungsik Moon, Yoo Seungho, Jang Jongwan, Jo Jongsung, and Choe Sooryeon, all artists who are influenced by East Asian Painting in contemporary art. These artists didn’t major in East Asian Painting, but actively incorporate elements of East Asian Painting into their works and view East Asian Painting from a current perspective.

'Current' here refers to the open possibility of various interpretations of the various elements of East Asian Painting, rather than considering them as fixed in the past. The eight artists in the exhibition are contemporary artists who are living in the present, summoning the past into the present, bringing it into their perception, and rearranging it into the current aesthetic form.

"Ah! East Asian Painting: Dongyanghua, One and All" is an exhibition that examines the derivation or relevance of East Asian Painting to contemporary art. The main focus is on how the artists view East Asian Painting from outside the field and how they relate to their own work. Therefore, it is worth noting that the participating artists who are not oriental painting majors were interviewed and the connection between their work and East Asian Painting was closely examined.
