One Korean artist whose name appears on two major international stages this year is Yo-E Ryou, born in 1987. Ryou is currently presenting Breath Orchestra in 《In Minor Keys》, the International Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. Her selection as an individual artist for the Biennale’s International Exhibition, rather than a national pavilion, is particularly significant. Nonprofit_News ACC Original Production ‘The Forgotten War’ Wins Special Jury Award at SXSW, World’s Largest Content Festival
The National Asian Culture Center (ACC, President Kim Sangug), under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced that The Forgotten War, planned and produced by the ACC, received the Special Jury Award in the XR Experience Competition at the “2026 South by Southwest (SXSW)” held in the United States on March 18 (local time).
Biennale_News Binna Choi Appointed as Artistic Director for the 61st Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion
The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) has appointed curator Binna Choi as the Artistic Director for the Korean Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale) in 2026.
Binna Choi previously served as a curator for the 2016 Gwangju Biennale and as a co-artistic director for the 2022 Singapore Biennale. She was the Director of Casco Art Institute in the Netherlands from 2008 to 2023. She is currently serving as a co-artistic director for the Hawai‘i Triennial 2025, which runs until May 4 this year.

On March 20th, the open call for Hyundai Blue Prize+ began, supporting emerging curators. This year's open call has expanded eligibility, allowing any emerging curators residing in Asia or working with themes related to Asia to apply.
