Oil Street Art Space (Oi!) presents Gary Card’s (b. 1981) solo show “People Mountain People Sea” through July 28. Oi! completed a three-year museum expansion project in 2022, transforming a historic two-story building and a large outdoor space on Oil Street into an art gallery.

Gary Card is a young British artist who began his career as a stage designer and has since worked in set design, graphic design, painting, sculpture, and illustration, collaborating with the high-end fashion industry. At Oi!, Card transformed the century-old museum building into a contemporary multimedia art space. After passing through an interior space filled with animation and sound, viewers encounter a 15-foot-tall outdoor sculpture, ‘The Dream of Mr. Somebody.’

Until next January, at the museum’s outdoor lawn is ‘Joyful Trees (Arbores Laetae),’ commissioned to celebrate the museum’s expansion, by American architectural group Diller Scofidio+Renfro on view.
